PROVINCE HONOURS 10-YEAR HOUSING VOLUNTEER

Released on December 3, 2003

A Regina man has been honoured for 10 years of volunteer service as a board member on the Regina Housing Authority.

Robert Ivanochko received a certificate of recognition and a commemorative pin recognizing his 10 years of volunteer service. Regina Elphinstone MLA Warren McCall made the presentation on behalf of Community Resources and Employment Minister Joanne Crofford.

"The province's network of 280 housing authorities depends on the selflessness and dedication of volunteers like Robert Ivanochko," McCall said. "For an entire decade Mr. Ivanochko has helped make his province and his community and area a better place to live by his commitment to social housing."

Mr. Ivanochko continues to serve as a member of the board of directors on the Regina Housing Authority, and is one of more than 1,500 housing authority volunteers across Saskatchewan. The Regina Board manages more than 2900 housing units in the city of Regina.

Housing authorities are community-based organizations that manage the province's social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities.

The presentation was made at the official opening of the Housing Authority Office constructed in North Central Regina to improve the quality of life for people living within North Central.
