NORTHERN BUSINESS DIRECTORY ON LINE

Released on September 6, 2002

A comprehensive directory of the goods and services of businesses in more

than 62 communities in the Saskatchewan Northern Administration District

(NAD) is now available on the Internet.

"The Northern Business Directory was first published in 1998. We have now

updated the information in the directory and made it easier to use, not

only for people who want to access northern businesses but for the

businesses themselves," Northern Affairs Minister Buckley Belanger

said. "The directory is invaluable to anybody looking to do business in

the Northern Administration District. Northern enterprise continues to

grow, as does ability to use and access the information on the Internet."

The Northern Business Directory is hosted on line at career.kcdc.ca by the

Keewatin Career Development Corporation (KCDC). The directory can also be

accessed through the Northern Affairs Web site at northern.gov.sk.ca. The

business information available to directory users includes services

offered, business contact information, years in business, and location of

business as well as other information. The directory information is

compiled and updated by Saskatchewan Northern Affairs.

"I'm very pleased with the changes that we have made to the on-line

Business Directory," KCDC webmaster Bryan Orthner said. "It is now much

easier to find and print information from the directory. We have made it

simple for businesses to inform us of changes to their information so that

the information in the directory will remain accurate and up to date. We

have also added an e-mail notification service, so that users of the

directory can be automatically informed of updates."

The Northern Business Directory includes information on more than 700

businesses in the NAD. Businesses are listed alphabetically, as well as by

product and by location.
