CROP INSURANCE EXTENSIONS AVAILABLE

Released on October 31, 2002

Saskatchewan Crop Insurance customers must file their claims or request an

extension of insurance by November 15th.

November 15th is the final day to submit yield-loss claims, 2002 Production

Declarations, and requests for extensions of insurance. With the late

harvest, many producers are investigating extensions for the first time in

a decade.

"Current estimates are that thirteen per cent of this year's crop remains

unharvested," Deputy Premier and Agriculture, Food and Rural Revitalization

Minister Clay Serby said. "Insured crops can still be covered for over-

winter yield and grade losses if producers contact their customer service

offices now and request an extension."

Crop Insurance also reminds producers that waterfowl and big game damage

compensation is available on unharvested crops. You need not be a Crop

Insurance customer to be eligible. Wildlife damage must be inspected

before the crop is harvested so producers should contact their customer

service office as soon as they see damage.
