SASK. GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, WORK AND DO BUSINESS

Released on October 30, 2002

Saskatchewan is a great place to live, work and do business. That is

according to 83 per cent of respondents to a government poll conducted in

September.

Although 58 per cent of respondents believe Saskatchewan's economy is

improving or at least holding it own, a majority were not aware that:

investment in manufacturing in Saskatchewan is expected to grow

very quickly this year;

Saskatchewan has seen strong job growth over the past several

months;

Saskatchewan is ranked as having one of the most competitive

business climates in North America; and

Saskatchewan had the highest growth in productivity in Canada in

the past decade.

More than three-quarters of the people responding to the poll said the

government should do more to promote Saskatchewan.

Polling results for the 2nd quarter of the fiscal year were released

today. No polling was conducted in July or August. The omnibus polling

was conducted by Fast Consulting of Saskatoon in September at a total cost

of $22,500. A representative sample of 987 provincial residents were

surveyed. The results yield a statistical level of confidence of 95 per

cent within an overall margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage

points.
