An inquest into the death of Glen Peter Vandall will take place November5th to 7th, 2002, at 9:30 am in Provincial Court, #3 Railway Avenue East,
North Battleford.
Vandall, aged 38, was an inmate at the Forensic Unit of the Saskatchewan
Hospital in North Battleford at the time of his death. His body was found
hanging in his room on January 1st, 2002.
Section 20 of The Coroners Act, 1999 requires an inquest to be held when an
inmate dies in a jail, penitentiary, lock-up or correctional facility.
In addition to establishing when and where the death occurred and the
medical cause of the death, the Coroner's jury may make recommendations to
prevent similar deaths in the future. Inquests are open to the public.
The presiding coroner will be Douglas Kovatch of Regina.
