Released on November 29, 2002

Off-sale liquor outlets in Saskatchewan will be able to sell spirits, small

businesses acting as agents of SLGA (franchises) will be able to sell a

larger selection of specialty beer and up to 20 Saskatchewan liquor stores

will begin selling a selection of chilled specialty beer, effective

December 8, 2002.

Ron Osika, Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming

Authority, today announced the changes saying they will improve service to

customers by increasing product selection, particularly in rural

communities that do not have a SLGA liquor store.

"Our goal has always been to meet the needs of customers by building on the

proven strength of our public distribution system," said Osika. "Through

greater selection and Sunday store openings we are continuing to place

customer service at the forefront."

SLGA met with a variety of stakeholders to consider how to improve customer

service and product availability for Saskatchewan residents.
