GOLDEN JUBILEE MEDALS PRESENTED

Released on November 8, 2002

In the next month more than 400 Saskatchewan citizens will receive Golden

Jubilee medals in nine presentation ceremonies throughout the province with

Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock.



The commemorative medal was created to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen

Elizabeth II's accession to the throne as Queen of Canada.



The medal is presented to recognize a person's significant achievement or

distinguished service to their fellow citizens, their communities or to

Canada. Recipients were selected based on the recommendation of national

and provincial non-governmental organizations; lieutenant governors and

territorial commissioners; provincial and territorial governments; senators

or members of Parliament.



Today the Lieutenant Governor presented Golden Jubilee Medals to recipients

in Prince Albert. Other presentations will take place in the following

locations:



November 13th in Saskatoon

November 14th in Regina

November 15th in Regina

November 18th in Moose Jaw

November 21st in Melville

December 5th in North Battleford

December 6th in Swift Current
