DIGITAL CELLULAR SERVICE FOR ESTEVAN AND AREA
Released on May 15, 2002
SaskTel Mobility customers in Estevan, Midale, Outram and area now have the
power of digital cellular service. Additional expansion scheduled for
Southeast Saskatchewan this year includes Carlyle, Kenosee Lake, Carnduff
and Oxbow.
"By extending digital cellular service to more communities in 2002, SaskTel
is once again putting Saskatchewan people first," Crown Investments
Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "This groundbreaking expansion
program - combined with the recently announced expansion of SaskTel High
Speed Internet service to 191 more communities this year and next - will
connect Saskatchewan people to each other and the world like never before."
"With this continued expansion of SaskTel Mobility's digital cellular
network, we're getting closer to our goal of giving more than 90 per cent
of Saskatchewan's population access to digital cellular service," SaskTel's
Senior Vice-President, Customer Service Operations & Mobility Diana
Milenkovic said. "When this project is complete next year, our digital
cellular service will completely overlay today's analog cellular network."
For 2002 - year two of a three-year, $24 million project - SaskTel Mobility
has scheduled digital cellular expansion to many communities across
Saskatchewan, including communities surrounding Meadow Lake, Assiniboia,
Weyburn, Estevan, Indian Head, Esterhazy and Kamsack.
There are several advantages of digital cellular service over analog
cellular, including improved call clarity, enhanced privacy and longer
battery life. Digital cellular service allows you to send and receive text
messages with Notifi! or surf the internet, perform banking transactions
and access real-time information such as news, weather and stock quotes
with Mobile Browser.
With digital cellular service, SaskTel Mobility offers Mobile Office
Solutions allowing customers to access corporate databases, E-mail and
Intranets while remaining mobile and out of the office.
SaskTel Mobility is Saskatchewan's complete wireless solutions provider,
