The Provincial Government is investing $392,000 on upgrading three schoolsin northern communities.
"We are investing in schools, in students, and in the future of
Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Jim Melenchuk said.
La Loche Community School will receive $190,000 in provincial government
funding for a teacherage, a roof replacement project at the elementary
school and to construct a new relocatable classroom at the high school.
Churchill Composite High School in La Ronge will receive $202,000 to
construct two new relocatable classrooms. These projects will be cost
shared with the Northern Lights School Division.
"With $40 million in the Department of Learning's capital budget for
schools, approximately 140 school construction, renovation or upgrading
projects will be funded in communities around the province this year,"
Melenchuk said. "An additional $20 million for school facilities was made
available, over a four year period, from the Centenary Fund which was
announced in 2000."
Additional projects will be announced throughout the province in the next
few weeks.
"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment
to invest in modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan
students," Melenchuk added.
