Released on January 10, 2002

A tender has been awarded for surfacing and seal coating on 21.4 km of

Highway 155 near Beauval this construction season.

"Work for this $3.1 million surfacing project is anticipated to begin in

mid-May of 2002, and should be completed by the end of July," Highways and

Transportation Minister Mark Wartman said. "Completion of this job will

require an estimated 44 full-time workers."

Improvements will be made on four separate sections of Highway 155. Work

is anticipated to begin next week on gravel crushing and haul in

preparation for construction.

Mulder Construction and Materials Ltd. was awarded this surfacing and seal

coating project.

This project was identified in the 2001/2002 Winter Tender Schedule for

Saskatchewan highway work, worth an estimated $86.8 million. The Winter

Tender Schedule ensures timely and efficient delivery of highway

improvements this spring.

"Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation is working hard to fix roads

across the province to improve driver safety," Wartman said.

The department's budget this year is a record $311.7 million, which will

help to resurface and upgrade 550 km of rural and northern highways.
