Grading is underway on a 8 km section of Highway 47 north of Stoughton."Road work began on this $640,000 project in November," Highways and
Transportation Minister Mark Wartman said. "The project should be
completed by mid-August. Completion of this job will require an estimated
53 full-time workers."
This grading improvement project began 25 km north of Stoughton and will
continue north to the Corning access.
S. Wilson Construction Ltd. of Rocanville was awarded this project.
"Highway 47 has seen an increase in truck traffic and we are working hard
to revitalize this highway by fixing rough sections," Wartman said.
This project was identified in the 2001/2002 Winter Tender Schedule for
Saskatchewan highway work, worth an estimated $86.8 million. The Winter
Tender Schedule ensures timely and efficient delivery of highway
improvements this spring.
Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record
$311.7 million, which will help to improve the major highway system that
carries 65 per cent of provincial traffic.
