MEMBERSHIP OF AUTO INJURY APPEAL COMMISSION NAMED

Ann Phillips, Q.C. of Regina has been appointed as Chairperson of the

Automobile Injury Appeal Commission. Beverly Joan Cleveland, also of

Regina and Dr. Mukesh Mirchandani of Yorkton have been appointed as

members.



"Individuals who are not satisfied with a decision affecting their benefits

under No Fault auto injury insurance can now have their concerns addressed

by going directly to an independent appeal commission or to the Court of

Queen's Bench," Justice Minister Chris Axworthy said. "The commission has

the authority to set aside, confirm or vary benefit decisions made by SGI

under the plan."



The Appeal Commission offices will open in Regina on January 2nd, 2003.

The commission may be contacted by calling 798-5545 or toll-free in

Saskatchewan at 1-866-798-5544.



The Appeal Commission was established by amendments to The Automobile

Accident Insurance Act passed during the spring session of the

legislature. The appeal commission is administered by Saskatchewan Justice

and funded by SGI.
