APPOINTMENTS TO CROWN CORPORATION BOARDS ANNOUNCED

New chairs have been appointed to the boards of directors of SaskTel and

SaskEnergy, resulting in other changes to those boards and to the board of

Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI).



After serving as a director, Reg Bird of Victoria, B.C., becomes chair of

the SaskTel board. Bird has extensive experience in telecommunications,

including serving as president and CEO of Manitoba Telephones from 1987 to

1990. He replaces Tom Kehoe of Swift Current who resigned due to work

commitments. Kehoe had chaired the SaskTel board since 1998.



Frank Proto of Regina, former president and CEO of Wascana Energy, leaves

his position of vice-chair of the SaskTel board to become chair of the

SaskEnergy board. He replaces Susan Milburn of Saskatoon who resigned due

to work commitments.



Tracey Bakkeli of Regina has been appointed as a new member of the SaskTel

board, and will replace Proto as vice-chair. Bakkeli owns and operates a

consulting company.



Delores Burkart, a public relations consultant from Saskatoon, leaves the

SaskTel board to become the new vice-chair of the SGI board. She replaces

Walter Bardua of Nanaimo, B.C., who will continue as a member. Doug

Richardson, a lawyer from Saskatoon, moves from the SGI board to become a

member of the SaskTel board.



"I am pleased to announce these changes to the boards of SaskTel,

SaskEnergy and SGI," Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag

said. "The mixture of new and former members ensures continuity while

bringing new skills and experience to these boards. I want to thank

everyone who has agreed to serve."



"I also want to thank Tom Kehoe and Susan Milburn, who devoted so much time

and energy to the boards of SaskTel and SaskEnergy respectively. They will

be missed, and I thank them for their valuable contribution to the people

of Saskatchewan."
