SASKWATER SUPPLIES TREATED WATER TO HAGUE

Released on December 19, 2002

Minister Responsible for SaskWater Ron Osika and Hague Mayor George F.

Guenter, today "turned the taps" on a $2.6 million pipeline expansion that

added the Town of Hague to SaskWater's regional supply system in the area.

"By supplying quality drinking water to the Town of Hague, SaskWater brings

a valuable solution to the town's water quality and quantity problems,"

Osika said. "The addition of new pipeline in the area promotes future

economic expansion along the pipeline route."

SaskWater purchases the treated water from the City of Saskatoon and

delivers it to the town. The community remains responsible for its own

distribution system.

SaskWater installed about 20 kms of pipeline to add Hague to the existing

pipeline in the area and twinned the pipeline near Osler to provide extra

capacity for Osler, Warman and future growth.

Mayor Guenter says their decision to connect to SaskWater's water supply

system was a good move. "Healthy drinking water is a boost to this

community," Guenter said. "We think it improves our opportunities for

future growth."

In addition to building and operating regional water systems, SaskWater

partners with municipalities in contracted operation and management of

water and wastewater systems, providing Total Quality Water Management.
