SGI INCREASES INSURANCE DISCOUNT

Released on December 13, 2002

Safe drivers in Saskatchewan will soon see a bigger discount on their

vehicle insurance under SGI's Safe Driver Recognition program.

"SGI made it a priority to grow the discount over time as it could afford

to do so," Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag

said. "Effective Jan. 1, 2003, the maximum discount available will be

increased from seven per cent to eight per cent."

In 2003, close to $20 million will be put back into the pockets of safe

drivers in Saskatchewan through discounts on their vehicle insurance.

About two out of three Saskatchewan vehicle owners qualify for some level

of discount, and 38 per cent of vehicle owners are eligible for the maximum

discount available.

Safe Driver Recognition was introduced on July 1, 2002 in an effort to

reward safe drivers with a discount on their vehicle insurance, while

ensuring drivers who display risky behaviour pay their share in financial

penalties.

More information on Safe Driver Recognition can be found on the SGI web

site at www.sgi.sk.ca.
