NEW LOOK FOR GOVERNMENT WEB SITE

Released on December 13, 2002

Web users will now find it easier to find government information and

services online, thanks to a redesign of the Government of Saskatchewan's

central Web site.

The redesign includes quick links to feature areas and major initiatives

that impact the public, along with a fresh new look. The site also

maintains its basic navigational features, which have proven very popular

with Internet users.

"Our intent is to make electronic access to government information and

services as effortless as possible," Information Technology Minister Andrew

Thomson said. "People should think of the site as an information kiosk

that will quickly guide them to a host of information and services

available from various government departments and agencies."

The site now features direct links to business, investment and tourism

information. It also includes a Service Centre, which provides quick

access to frequently requested information and services such as birth

certificates, hunting and fishing licenses and health cards.

"Redesign of the portal and access to all government legislation and the

Saskatchewan Electronic Tax Service are just a small part of the move

toward E-government," Thomson said. "Our goal is to make 90 per cent of

the transactions people and businesses conduct with their government

available online by 2004."
