An inquest into the death of Sonia Faith Keepness will be held Monday,March 3rd to 6th, 2003, at 9:30 am at the Court of Queen's Bench in Prince
Albert.
Keepness, aged 37, was found deceased in her cell at the Pine Grove
Provincial Correctional Centre on February 19th, 2002.
Section 20 of The Coroners Act, 1999, requires an inquest to be held into
the death of any person who dies while an inmate in a jail, penitentiary,
lock-up or correctional facility.
In addition to establishing when and where the death ocurred and the
medical cause of death, the Coroner's jury may make recommendations to
prevent similar deaths in the future. Inquests are open to the public.
Coroner Hugh Harradence of Prince Albert will preside at the inquest.
