SASKATCHEWAN FILM INDUSTRY SUPPORTS FOOD BANK

Released on December 2, 2002

Local residents supported the Regina Food Bank today by touring the movie

set for "Falling Angels" during an open house at the Canada-Saskatchewan

Soundstage.

"The open house gave the film community and our guests an opportunity to

help the Regina Food Bank as the festive season approaches," Culture, Youth

and Recreation Minister Joanne Crofford said. "The event also gave guests

a chance to see work taking place at the soundstage."

The event is supported by Saskatchewan Culture, Youth and Recreation, Minds

Eye Pictures, Sask Film, the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Industry

Association and the Centre of the Arts.

"Demands on the Food Bank are always heavy during the Christmas season, and

I am delighted with the support this open house will give us," General

Manager of the Regina Food Bank Gord Barnes said. "Seeing the soundstage

in use makes the event especially exciting."

The soundstage officially opened September 20th, 2002. At the opening, it

was announced that "Falling Angels" would use the facility for its interior

scenes. A 1960s era bungalow was recreated in the soundstage for the

production.

Saskatchewan is home to over 40 film, television and post-production

businesses that brought $239 million of production to the province from

1993 to 2001.
