PREMIER EXTENDS SYMPATHY

Premier Lorne Calvert expressed his condolences today to the family of

Battleford Cut Knife MLA Rudi Peters. Peters died on Saturday after a

battle with leukemia.



"I join with my legislative colleagues and Saskatchewan people in extending

the greatest sympathy to Mr. Peters' wife and family," Calvert said. "Mr.

Peters demonstrated a determined commitment to public service despite his

lengthy illness."



"Mr. Peters served the people of the Batteford Cutknife constituency with

diginity and sincerity as a Member of the Legislative Assembly."



Flags at the Legislature and at public buildings in the Battleford Cutknife

constituency will fly at half-staff in Mr. Peters' honour.



Mr. Peters was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly in

1999 as the the MLA for Battleford Cutknife.
