SEMANS VOLUNTEER HONOURED

A Semans man was one of eight Saskatchewan people recently honoured for a

quarter century of volunteer service to their local housing authorities.



Robert Hamilton was honoured May 23rd at a luncheon in Manitou Beach hosted

by Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, an agency of Saskatchewan Municipal

Affairs and Housing.



Hamilton has served for 25 years on the volunteer board of the Semans

Housing Authority, a community-based organization that manages social

housing units designated for seniors, low-income families and persons with

disabilities.



"Robert Hamilton and his fellow long-service honourees have made their

communities better places to live through a quarter century of dedication

and commitment to social housing in Saskatchewan," Municipal Affairs and

Housing Minister Ron Osika said.



Hamilton and the other honourees were presented with certificates of

recognition on behalf of the Province of Saskatchewan, as well as a framed

print by Saskatchewan artist David Thauberger.



Saskatchewan has a network of 280 housing authorities served by more than

1,500 volunteer members across the province. Municipal Affairs and Housing

appoints the province's housing authority volunteers. Recognition of long-

service volunteers is a regular initiative by Saskatchewan Housing

Corporation.
