RESURFACING HIGHWAY 32 WEST OF CABRI

Released on May 9, 2001

Resurfacing improvements will begin on 6.5 km of Highway 32 west of Cabri

this week.

"Work for this nearly $1 million resurfacing project is anticipated to

begin early this month and should be completed by late August," Highways

and Transportation Minister Pat Atkinson said. "Completion of this job

will require an estimated 31 full-time workers."

Venture Construction Inc. of Saskatoon was awarded this resurfacing project.

The resurfacing project on Highway 32 will begin 5 km west of Cabri and

will continue a further 6.5 km west.

"As with many highways in the province, Highway 32 has seen an increase in

truck traffic, leading to deterioration," Atkinson said. "By strengthening

and surfacing this section, Highway 32 near Cabri will be able to handle

heavier traffic loads."

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million, which will help to resurface and upgrade 550 km of rural

and northern highways.
