SURFACING ON HIGHWAY 23 NEAR TISDALE

Released on May 1, 2001

Resurfacing a 13.6 km section of Highway 23 near Tisdale will be underway

this week.

"Work for this $1.9 million resurfacing project is anticipated to begin in

early May and should be completed in July," Highways and Transportation

Minister Pat Atkinson said. "Completion of this job will require an

estimated 44 full-time workers."

Warner Construction Co. Ltd. was awarded this project.

The resurfacing project on Highway 23 will begin eight kilometres northwest

of the junction of Highways 38 and 23 and will continue for 13.6 km.

"Highway 23 is a main route that links northeastern Saskatchewan to

Greenwater Provincial Park - a popular tourism destination in

Saskatchewan," Atkinson said. "By upgrading this section of Highway 23, we

will help to provide a safe drive for visitors to the lake."

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million, which will help to resurface and upgrade 550 km of rural

and northern highways.
