Resurfacing begins this week on a 15 km section of Highway 13 east ofStoughton.
"Road work began on this $2 million project last October and starts again
in late April," Highways and Transportation Minister Pat Atkinson said.
"The project should be completed by late July 2001. Completion of this job
will require an estimated 53 full-time workers."
Langenburg Redi-Mix Ltd. was awarded this project.
This resurfacing improvement project will begin at Forget 11.5 km east of
the junction of Highways 47 and 13 and will continue east to Kisbey.
"Highway 13 has seen an increase in truck traffic and we are working hard
to revitalize this highway by fixing rough sections," Atkinson said.
"Motorists in this area will notice major improvements on this highway once
work on three separate sections is completed this season."
Resurfacing will also take place on 16.1 km of Highway 13 east of
Assiniboia and 11.3 km of Highway 13 west of Weyburn this construction
season.
Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record
$311.7 million, which will help to improve the major highway system that
carries 65 per cent of provincial traffic.
