Released on March 5, 2001

The second session of the 24th Legislature will open Tuesday, March 20th.

"I am looking forward to this session of the legislature," Premier Lorne

Calvert said. "We have an energetic team, a forward-looking focus and a

Budget that moves us into the new economy.

"We will focus on preparing for the future - building a thriving,

life of Saskatchewan people. This agenda will be advanced by investing in

education and training; investing in early childhood development, creating

jobs for our young people; and investing in our communities and our

infrastructure.

"The Throne Speech will outline our new direction and our Budget will

detail how we will act upon it."

Calvert said the government plans to bring down the 2001-02 budget on March
