RESURFACING HIGHWAY 35 NEAR LIPTON

Released on July 30, 2001

Highway 35 near Lipton will soon receive resurfacing improvements.

"Work for this resurfacing project is anticipated to begin this week and

should be completed by late August," Highways and Transportation Minister

Pat Atkinson said.

Warner Construction Co. Ltd. was awarded this resurfacing contract. The

project is valued at $750,000 and will create an estimated 16 jobs.

The resurfacing project on 9.2 km of several sections of Highway 35 will

occur between Lipton to the junction of Highway 16.

"It's important to keep our rural highways in good condition," Atkinson

said. "By repairing several sections, we will be able to effectively fix

those highways most in need."

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million, which will help to resurface and upgrade 550 km of rural

and northern highways.
