NEW CASINO IN MOOSE JAW

Released on July 26, 2001

Construction will begin in mid-September on a new casino in downtown Moose

Jaw.

A 12,000 square foot casino will be built on Fairford Street, directly

across the street from the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa.

"The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to support the community of

Moose Jaw's plans to redevelop their city's downtown by allowing a

reasonable expansion of casino gaming in the province," Minister

Responsible for the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Kim Trew said.

"We believe a casino in downtown Moose Jaw will have the same positive

effect on Moose Jaw as Casino Regina has had to Regina's downtown," Trew

added. "Casino Moose Jaw is just one element of a visionary plan to

revitalize Moose Jaw and create a tourism corridor between Regina and Moose

Jaw.

Casino Moose Jaw, which will be attached to the world-class Temple Gardens

Mineral Spa, will provide tremendous opportunities to market Regina and

Moose Jaw as a destination tourism region and encourage drive-through

traffic to stop-over.

Business and community groups in Moose Jaw are applauding the government's

decision to help facilitate tourism development in their community.

"Moose Jaw is very excited the Government of Saskatchewan is supporting our

plans to redevelop our community's downtown," Moose Jaw Mayor Al

Schwinghamer said. "Casino Moose Jaw will be a key anchor for other

tourism developments in our city. It will help facilitate expansion of the

Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, the Tunnels of Little Chicago, the development

of a new Arts and Cultural Centre and improvements to River Street and Main

Street."

The total capital investment for Casino Moose Jaw will be approximately $13

million, including building costs totalling $9 million, and equipment costs

being in the $4 million range. The Temple Gardens Mineral Spa will own the

land and buildings.

The casino building and 140 parking stalls will be leased to the

Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation for a period of 25 years with an option to

purchase the property and building for $1 when this lease expires.

Casino Moose Jaw will employ approximately 120 people and is slated to open

by the fall of 2002, in time for Moose Jaw's centennial celebrations.
