RESURFACING HIGHWAY 11 NEAR BETHUNE

Released on July 19, 2001

Resurfacing is about to begin on a 19.4 km section of Highway 11 north of

Bethune.

"Work will begin on this $1.9 million project this week and should be

completed by the end of August," Highways and Transportation Minister Pat

Atkinson said. "Around 25 full-time workers will be needed to do the

work."

This resurfacing project will take place in the northbound lanes on Highway

11 from the junction of Highway 354 at Bethune to the junction of Highway 2

west of Findlater.

"Highway 11 carries a high volume of traffic and it's a priority to keep

this highway in good condition," Atkinson said. "Motorists in this area

will notice major improvements to Highway 11 once work is finished."

ASL Paving Ltd. of Saskatoon was awarded this project.

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million. The money will be used to improve the major highway system

that carries 65 per cent of provincial traffic.
