February 15th is the deadline for owners of farm land to apply for a rebate ontheir 2000 farm land property taxes.
The Farm Land Property Tax Rebate, announced in the 2000-2001 provincial
budget, provides a rebate of 25 per cent of the current school tax levy on farm
land and represents a $50 million, two year commitment by the Government of
Saskatchewan.
"This tax rebate is in place to help producers adjust to changing market
conditions and to help strengthen our industry," Agriculture and Food Minister
Clay Serby said.
"We want to remind producers to apply before the February 15th deadline."
Applications are available at Rural Service Centres and Rural Municipality
offices. Application forms are also available on the Saskatchewan Agriculture
and Food website at www.agr.gov.sk.ca. Farmers can call toll-free at
1-877-874-5365 for more information on the program.
