RE-SURFACING HIGHWAY 364 BY BALGONIE

Released on August 21, 2001

Surfacing work began recently on a 16.7 km section of Highway 364 north of

Balgonie.

"Work for this $2.2 million surfacing project is anticipated to be

completed by the end of October," Highways and Transportation Minister Pat

Atkinson said. "The project will create around 54 full-time jobs."

The improvement project on Highway 364 will begin 2 km north of the

junction with Highway 46 and will continue north for 16.7 km.

"As is the case with many highways across the province, Highway 364 has

experienced an increase in truck traffic, which results in deteriorating

road conditions," Atkinson said. "By resurfacing a 16.7 km section of this

highway, travellers will enjoy a lengthy section of Highway 364 that is

greatly improved."

Warner Construction Ltd. of Regina was awarded this surfacing project.

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million, which will help to resurface and upgrade 550 km of rural

and northern highways.

Motorists are asked to drive safely through the Orange Zone and watch for

construction signs and equipment.
