SENIOR MANAGEMENT CHANGES IN FINANCE

Premier Lorne Calvert today announced Deputy Minister of Finance Paul

Boothe will complete his two-year secondment with the Government of

Saskatchewan on June 30, 2001 and return to his teaching position at the

University of Alberta.



During Boothe's tenure, Saskatchewan initiated fundamental personal tax

reform, invested in priority areas such as education and transportation and

received three credit rating upgrades. Boothe also led the introduction of

improved strategic planning and budget processes across government.



"Saskatchewan has accomplished a great deal during Boothe's tenure as

Deputy Minister of Finance and Secretary of Treasury Board," Calvert said.

"He has also made a valuable contribution to Saskatchewan during his

secondment from the University of Alberta and on behalf of the government

and his colleagues in the public service, I wish him well upon his return

to the academic sector."



Assistant Deputy Minster of Finance Kirk McGregor will be Acting Deputy

Minister beginning July 1st, 2001 until a permanent replacement is found.

McGregor has 25 years experience with the Department of Finance.
