Released on April 26, 2001

Resurfacing of 9.8 km on Highway 7 west of Marengo is set to begin.

"Roadwork on this $1.6 million resurfacing project is anticipated to begin

this week and be completed by the end of May," Highways and Transportation

Minister Pat Atkinson said. "This project is expected to create 22 full-

time jobs."

H.J.R. Asphalt Ltd. of Saskatoon was awarded the tender.

Resurfacing work on Highway 7 will begin 9 km west of the junction of

Highways 7 and 317 and continue to the Alberta border.

"The department is working hard to revitalize our highway network,"

Atkinson said. "Highway 7 is a busy route that requires needed repairs

this construction season."

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget this year is a record

$311.7 million, which will help to resurface and upgrade 550 km of rural

and northern highways.
