WELCOMING THE PRINCE OF WALES

Released on April 24, 2001

Saskatchewan residents are invited to welcome His Royal Highness The Prince

of Wales at public events from April 26th-28th.

"Having the opportunity to interact with residents of our province is an

important part of the Prince of Wales visit to Saskatchewan," Provincial

Secretary Pat Lorjé said. "While his visit includes official ceremonies,

there are several occasions in different communities for the Prince to meet

local residents in person."

Details of the Prince's itinerary, his biography and information about the

monarchy are available on a special Royal Visit website at

www.gov.sk.ca/royalvisit. The site also invites individuals with a special

interest in royalty to share their anecdotes, thoughts, poems or other

expressions. Selected submissions will be posted on the site.

On April 26th in Regina, the public is invited to welcome The Prince of

Wales at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Legislative Building at a welcoming

ceremony with military honours and the opening of the Prince of Wales

barrier-free entrance. Later that afternoon at 4:20 p.m., he will

participate in a public ceremony at Regina City Hall.

On April 27th, Assiniboia and area residents are invited to meet The Prince

of Wales during a sod-turning ceremony for The Prince of Wales Community

Complex in Assiniboia at 3:40 p.m.

On April 28th, Saskatoon and area residents will have three opportunities

to welcome The Prince of Wales in person. At 11:25 a.m., he will be

visiting the Saskatoon Community Service Village. That afternoon,

residents are invited to join him for the dedication of the Prince of Wales

Promenade at Meewasin Valley Weir at 2:05 p.m., and later at 2:40 at
