RESURFACING HIGHWAY 20 NEAR LANIGAN

Released on September 26, 2000

Resurfacing work is in progress on 6.6 km of Highway 20 north of Lanigan to

improve the driving condition of this highway.

"On-road work for this $426,000 project begins this week with the completion

date targeted for late September," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard

Sonntag said. "Completion of this job will require an estimated 30 jobs."

The surfacing for this job will take place north of the junction of Highways 20

and 16. L & R Asphalt Ltd. of Regina has been awarded the contract as the

lowest of four bidders.

"Highway 20 is an important route for local residents and we are working hard

to improve the condition of this highway," Sonntag said.

Across the province, there will be 101 major projects on 53 different

highways. Highways and Transportation's 2000 budget is $250 million, the

largest in the department's history.

Motorists are asked to drive safely through the Orange Zone and watch for

construction signs and equipment.
