NEW NORTH BATTLEFORD LIQUOR STORE OPENS

A new liquor store is opening in downtown North Battleford.



Doreen Hamilton, Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming

Authority, officially opened the new North Battleford Liquor Store today. The

store, which is 11,000 square feet, is situated in North Battleford's new King

Street Station revitalization area on 101st Street.



"Through the government's partnership with the City of North Battleford, we

have been able to contribute to the development of the downtown area, while

utilizing some important heritage architecture, and the architectural themes of

the courthouse and Allen Sapp Gallery," Hamilton said. "In addition, we have

been able to meet customers' needs for a larger, more contemporary liquor store

with easier access, improved parking and increased product selection."



The new store replaces one presently located on 12th Avenue. All staff have

moved to the new location.



The new liquor store incorporates parts of the city's former Royal Bank

Building, including two colonials, the dolomite limestone surround and

stonework from the outside of the building. The new building's architecture

complements similar buildings in the area. It also provides a large, bright

shopping environment for liquor store customers, increased product selection

and improved access and parking. The store is open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Monday to Saturday.



The City of North Battleford plans to continue work on the King Street Station

area in the coming months to create pedestrian walkways and landscaping.
