St. Peter's College in Muenster will be enhancing technology used for on-linetraining and student services, thanks to a $185,000 investment by the
provincial government.
"Strengthening our public institutions is one of the best ways we can celebrate
Saskatchewan's centenary," Post-Secondary Education and Skills Training
Minister Glenn Hagel said. "This funding will help St. Peter's College enrich
the experience of students in a rural setting."
St. Peter's College plans to use the funding on structural improvements and on
technology that will enhance the classroom experience and on-line learning.
"The generosity of this investment in rural Saskatchewan is evidence of faith
in the liveliness and future development of the rural sector," St. Peter's
College President Colleen Fitzgerald said. "St. Peter's has always been a
regional centre both for learning and the exploration of ideas and this allows
us to improve our service to the community."
The funding is from the Centenary Capital Fund, announced in this year's budget
to leave a legacy of Saskatchewan's centennial for future generations. Leading
up to the centennial celebrations in 2005, the Saskatchewan Government is
funding projects that support key infrastructure needs in the post-secondary
education and skills training sector.
