FUNDING FOR TISDALE INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED

A Tisdale community-based employment program is receiving $26,000 to help the

intellectually disabled find work.



NewSask Community Futures Development Corp. administers the program for the

Tisdale-based North East Community Partners for Inclusion Advisory Group. It

will work with six communities that will provide additional money.

Intellectually disabled people looking for work in Tisdale, Melfort, Nipawin,

Naicam, Porcupine Plain and Quill Lake will benefit from the program.



"All people in Saskatchewan have the right to participate fully in their

communities," Social Services Minister Harry Van Mulligen said. "The Supported

Employment Transition Initiatives will give people with intellectual

disabilities a more independent lifestyle."



"The North East Community Partners for Inclusion would like to thank the

Supported Employment Initiatives Fund for its contribution which will enable us

to continue essential services," NewSask Community Development Corporation

General Manager Judy Childs said.



Funding has been provided from the Supported Employment Transition Initiative

Fund by Social Services, Community Living Division. The Saskatchewan

Association of Rehabilitation Centres (SARC) administers the $300,000 annual

allocation.



There are ten partners committed to this project, including Human Resources

Development Canada (HRDC), Saskatchewan Social Services' Community Living

Division, Battlefords Health District-Mental Health, and the Canadian Mental

Health Association-North Battleford Branch.
