$475,000 INVESTMENT IN CAMPION COLLEGE

Released on November 2, 2000

Campion College in Regina is enhancing its facilities and the technology it

uses for on-line training and student services, thanks to a $475,000 investment

by the provincial government.

"One of the best ways we can celebrate Saskatchewan's centennial is by

strengthening our public institutions," Post-Secondary Education and Skills

Training Minister Glenn Hagel said. "Saskatchewan people have always made

education a priority. The knowledge and skills of our graduates will build our

future."

"We are grateful for this generous investment in the education of our

students," Campion College President Dr. Joseph Schner said. "It allows us to

offer students greatly improved technical services for registration, teaching

and research within a helpful environment. It shows a strong commitment on the

part of the Government of Saskatchewan, in co-operation with Campion, to

maintaining the highest standards of service."

The funding is from the Centenary Fund, announced in this year's budget to

leave a legacy of Saskatchewan's Centennial for future generations. Leading up

to the centennial celebrations in 2005, the Saskatchewan Government is funding

projects that support key infrastructure needs in the post-secondary education

and skills training sector.
