Released on May 2, 2000
Resurfacing begins this week on a 14.9 km stretch of westbound lane on Highway1 between Parkbeg and Secretan.
"Work will begin on this $1.4 million project the week of May 1st and should be
completed by mid-June," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag
said. "Completion of this job will require an estimated 23 full-time workers."
Morsky Construction Ltd. of Regina was awarded this project as the lowest of
six bidders.
Across the province, there will be 101 major projects on 53 different
highways. Highways and Transportation's 2000 budget is $250 million, the
largest in the department's history.
"We are working to maintain a safe and reliable highway network," Sonntag
said. "As our budget increases, so does our ability to preserve and maintain
provincial highways."
Motorists are asked to drive safely through the Orange Zone and watch for
construction signs and equipment.
