HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION PRAISES CASINO REGINA'S EMPLOYMENT RECORD

Released on June 21, 2000

The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission today recognized Casino Regina's

success as an equal opportunity employer.

Casino Regina President Joe van Koeverden was presented with a certificate of

recognition from the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission at the National

Employment Equity and Diversity Conference taking place today at the Delta

Hotel in Regina.

"We are pleased with the corporation's efforts to establish a representative

workforce," Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission Chief Commissioner Donna

Scott said.

Casino Regina's employment equity plan covers the four designated groups:

women, Aboriginal people, people with disabilities and members of visible

minorities. Scott says Casino Regina has made exceptional progress in the area

of women in management and the hiring of Aboriginal people.

Casino Regina employs close to 600 people. Women fill 53 per cent of these

positions; Aboriginal people represent 51 per cent; visible minorities

represent five per cent; and people with disabilities represent three per cent

of the workplace.

Women fill 52 per cent of management and supervisory positions and Aboriginal

people fill 37 per cent of these positions, including two positions on the

Executive Management Team.

"We are proud of our highly skilled and diverse workforce," van Koeverden

said. "Our goal was for Aboriginal people to make up half of our workforce.

We have met that goal and are committed to duplicating this success in the

employment of visible minorities and people with disabilities.
