An inquest into the death of Earla Stephanie Brass will take place at 9:30 amon Monday, June 12 in Court Room #3, Provincial Court, McIntosh Mall, 800
Central Avenue, Prince Albert.
Brass was an inmate of the Correctional Service of Canada, Saskatchewan
Penitentiary, in Prince Albert. She was found hanging in her cell on February
5, 2000. She died the next day at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert.
Section 9 of The Coroners Act requires an inquest to be held when an inmate
dies in a jail, penitentiary, lock-up or correctional facility.
In addition to establishing when and where the death occurred and the medical
cause of death, the Coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar
deaths in the future. Inquests are open to the public.
The presiding coroner will be June Merasty of Prince Albert.
