RESURFACING ON HIGHWAY 11

Released on December 4, 2000

A tender has been awarded to resurface a 19.4 km section of Highway 11 north of

Bethune.

ASL Paving Ltd. of Saskatoon was awarded this project as the lowest of five

bidders.

"Work will begin on this $1.9 million project in late May 2001 and should be

completed in mid-July," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag

said. "Completion of this job will require an estimated 25 full-time workers."

This resurfacing project will take place in the northbound lanes on Highway 11

from the junction of Highway 354 at Bethune to the junction of Highway 2 west

of Findlater.

"It's important to keep our high volume highways, such as Highway 11, in good

condition," Sonntag said. "Motorists in this area will notice major

improvements to Highway 11 once work is completed next construction season."

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation's budget received a $24 million

injection by the provincial government this fall to fix Saskatchewan roads.

This brings the Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation budget to a record

$274 million.
