NEW PUBLIC SERVICES BUILDING IN VIBANK

Released on August 10, 2000

Emergency services in Vibank will soon be housed in a new building.

The new building will accommodate equipment for the volunteer fire department,

the First Responder Unit and the Town of Vibank's public works equipment.

The province is cost-sharing the project with the Town of Vibank. A $64,000

grant from the Province's Centenary Fund has been provided toward the $127,000

project.

The new building will provide adequate space for the firefighters and First

Responders to conduct adequate training and proper storage facilities for the

town's emergency services.

"The new building will help improve the safety of residents in the Vibank

area," Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Jack Hillson said. "It

is important that emergency services personnel are properly trained and have

proper access to their equipment to aid the public in the case of an emergency."

The new building is expected to be complete this fall.

The Centenary Fund, announced in this year's Provincial Budget, supports

capital projects that are of provincial or regional interest and develop

municipal infrastructure in preparation for Saskatchewan's Centennial

celebrations in 2005.
