Shaunavon's airport has a newly repaired and resurfaced runway. The province cost-shared the project with the Town of Shaunavon. A $10,000
grant from the Province's Centenary Fund was provided toward the $20,000
project.
"The Shaunavon airport serves an important role in public safety and to the
economy of southwest Saskatchewan," Municipal Affairs, Culture and Housing
Minister Jack Hillson said. "The airport is used in emergencies by air
ambulance and the police as well as by businesses in the oil and gas sector."
The Centenary Fund, announced in this year's Provincial Budget, supports
capital projects that are of provincial or regional interest and develop
municipal infrastructure in preparation for Saskatchewan's Centennial
celebrations in 2005.
