Emergency services in Gull Lake will soon be housed in a new building. The new building will accommodate two fire trucks, two ambulances, an Emergency
Response Unit and related equipment that serve the Gull Lake region.
The province is cost-sharing the project with eight area municipalities. An
$87,000 grant from the Province's Centenary Fund has been provided toward the
$173,000 project.
"Emergency services in Gull Lake serve a wide area," Municipal Affairs, Culture
and Housing Minister Jack Hillson said. "Not only do they serve the residents
in eight municipalities but, being adjacent to a number of key road and rail
routes and near oil and gas development, they also respond to many other
emergencies."
The new building is expected to be complete this fall.
The Centenary Fund, announced in this year's Provincial Budget, supports
capital projects that are of provincial or regional interest and develop
municipal infrastructure in preparation for Saskatchewan's Centennial
celebrations in 2005.
