Motorists travelling the road to Avonlea will soon see improvements. A $1.3million surfacing project east of town on 8.1 km of Highway 334 will begin in
August.
Crews will excavate the shoulders, build up the road and add a granular surface
to make the driving surface stronger. W.F. Botkin Construction of Regina will
also apply two layers of seal coat to protect the road from further
deterioration.
"An additional $15 million in this year's budget demonstrates the province's
commitment to improving the safety and comfort of drivers travelling within the
province," Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley said.
38 people will be hired to re-surface the highway. Construction should be
completed in June of 2000.
