PAVING ANNOUNCED ON HIGHWAY 5

Released on April 28, 1999

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced an

$800,000 paving project on Highway 5 from the junction of Highway 5

and Highway 57 to the Town of Kamsack.

"This 6.6 km paving project is expected to start in early June and be

completed by mid June," Bradley said. "An estimated 43 jobs will be

involved."

HJR Asphalt Ltd. was awarded the contract as the lowest of five

bidders. The $800,000 cost includes department-supplied materials and

services.

A $15 million increase in the department's budget this year means a

very busy construction season and crews will be working hard to

improve and repair Saskatchewan roads and highways," Bradley said.

"The increased funding demonstrates our commitment to preserving our

investment in the Saskatchewan highway system."
