PAVING PROJECT AWARDED ON HIGHWAY 6

Released on April 7, 1999

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced a

13.1 km paving project on Highway 6 south of Ceylon.

"This $1.2 million project is expected to start in mid May and is

planned for completion in late June 1999," Bradley said. "An

estimated 31 jobs will be involved."

Anderson Rental and Paving Ltd. was awarded the contract for the

paving project as the lowest of eight bidders. The Highway 6 project

will be done 9.7 km to 22.8 km south of the Junction of Highway 377

for a total distance of 13.1 km. The $1.2 million project cost

includes department-supplied materials and services.

"The department budget increased by $15 million this year so our

construction seasons continue to get busier and busier," Bradley said.

"We are working hard to preserve our investment in the Saskatchewan

highway system. This project is part of our efforts to improve our

north/south corridors."
