RESURFACING PROJECT ANNOUNCED ON HIGHWAY NO. 16

Released on September 24, 1998

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced a

7.5 km resurfacing project northwest of Saskatoon valued at $402,635

on Highway No. 16 east from its junction with Highway No. 11 to 1.3 km

west and from the Dalmeny Grid to 6.2 km west.

"Highway work is still going on right across the province as we

continue working to meet our $2.5 billion over 10 years commitment to

improve our highways," Bradley said.

Anderson Rental and Paving Ltd. was awarded the contract as the lowest

of four bidders. An estimated 35 people will be employed on the

project which is scheduled to begin immediately and is planned for

completion in mid October.

"Our $219 million department budget has enabled us to enjoy a busy

construction and maintenance season," Bradley said. "I urge people to

continue using caution in orange zones and slow to 60 km/h."
