RESURFACING ANNOUNCED ON HIGHWAY NO. 361

Released on September 24, 1998

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced a

9.3 km resurfacing project valued at $704,840 on Highway No. 361 from

17.8 km to 27-2 km west of its Junction with Highway No. 9, south of

Carlyle.



"Highway work is still going on right across the province as we

continue working to meet our $2.5 billion over 10 years commitment to

improve our highways," Bradley said.



L & R Asphalt Ltd. was awarded the contract as the lowest of five

bidders. An estimated 33 people will be employed on the project which

September 21 and is expected to be completed by October 31, weather

permitting.



"Our $219 million department budget has enabled us to enjoy a busy

construction and maintenance season," Bradley said. "I urge people to

continue using caution in orange zones and slow to 60 km/h."
