Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced10.5 km of resurfacing on Highway No. 1 between Sintaluta and
Wolseley.
"This $1.2 million project will begin in mid-September and is planned
for completion by the end of October," Bradley said. "The resurfacing
will protect our investment in the existing pavement and give a
smoother ride for motorists. At the same time, it will provide much
needed pavement strength to handle increasing truck traffic now and
for the next decade."
Ramco Paving Ltd. was awarded the project as the lowest of six
bidders. An estimated 20 people will be employed on the project.
"Our $219 million department budget has enabled us to enjoy a
productive construction season and we remain busy with both
construction and maintenance," Bradley said. "As we work to improve
our highways, I urge motorists to exercise caution in the Orange Zone
and remember to slow to 60 km/h."
